Common Home Remedies For Your Troubled Feet

Home remedies could be the answer to your foot care needs. Are you tired of spending money on expensively packaged, and extensively marketed products which only produce minimal results. Most fancy foot care products are made up of simple ingredients such as acetic acid (vinegar), citric acid, essential oils, salt, baking soda, petroleum jelly, etc... Many of these items can be found in your home. Paying less for foot care products will encourage you to use them more consistently, which is the key to keeping your feet healthy!

Salt Soaks

The benefits of salt are endless. It helps tired, swollen and achy feet. Just take 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of sea salt or epsom salt and dissolve it in hot water, as hot as you can stand. Salt has healing properties and it is an anti-bacterial. The baking soda has skin softening properties which will aid in the exfoliation process. This is wonderfully healing solution.

Vinegar or Lemon Juice Soaks

Adding vinegar or lemon juice to your foot soaks is a great way to encourage exfoliation. The acidity in these products also kills foot and nail fungus and promotes a healthy PH balance of the skin.

Herbs and Essential Oils

You can add to any basic foot soak, lavender or peppermint leaves. Essential oils, especially lavender and tea tree will also aid in the healing and disinfecting properties of your foot soak. Lemon or Eucalyptus oil will aid in circulation, making your soak more invigorating. A dash of cinnamon will also aid in circulation while adding a delicious scent.

Olive Oil

Add olive oil to any combination of the above for an added moisturizing affect.

This is a product that can be purchases fairly cheaply. Aspirin contain acetyl-salicylic acid, which is known to be an anti-fungal. Dissolve about a dozen aspirin in your foot soak to help aid in the control of toenail and foot fungus.

Bag Balm and Petroleum Jelly

Bag Balm is an inexpensive petroleum based product which can be found in most feed supply stores. It is a balm for use on cow’s udders. This balm is an excellent salve for keeping your feet moisturized, combating eczema and avoiding the development of heel cracks. Plain old petroleum jelly is another product which is excellent for sealing in moisture and promoting healthy skin.
